Background
The Asus CX1500 is a laptop that runs on ChromeOS. ChromeOS laptops are marketed as “Chromebooks,” and are designed for light browsing and internet usage. The CX1500 has an Intel Celeron processor, a 720p camera, a 1080p display, and a 15.6-inch screen. It was released in 2021 and has not been discontinued, but has undergone model refreshes. There’s no public information available on the sales device, but it is available in the US, Canada, Taiwan, Japan, and Switzerland. The target demographics are students, budget shoppers & casual at-home users. The device has an MSRP of $329.99 and has had no formal recalls to this day. The LCD screen may have streaks of colored lines or screen distortion. The battery may degrade, causing it to drain quickly or not charge. The charging port may have internal damage, such as electrical damage or a physical obstruction. This is the lowest trim model of the CX1500 model series. There are other CX1500 models with faster processors and more storage. There is a series of CX1500 models that used Intel Pentium processors, which preceded this model series, but each subsequent model of CX1500 has used Intel Celeron. The model that came after the CX1500 was the CX1505, continuing the CX1500 series in 2025.
Identification
The Chromebook presents itself as a rectangular black laptop with an Asus logo centered on the back of the display. The Chromebook logo is in the top left of the back side of the screen. The laptop's physical dimensions are: 14.22W" x 9.84H" x 0.74D”. While most Chromebooks look very similar, it can be difficult to distinguish similar models from one another. The primary surefire way to tell different models apart is to look at the model number on the bottom center of the laptop. The Asus Chromebook has two main colorways, Mineral Grey and Transparent Silver. There are two things that users can positively identify from the device: the Chromebook logo and the model number.
