In this guide, we will show you step by step how to replace the motor for the Kenmore Spotlite KW2001. This guide covers replacing the motor itself, but not how to get to it. If your motor has overheated, causing a drop in suction power, this guide is for you.

    • Remove the clean water tank by lifting upwards and set it aside.

    • Remove the dirty water tank by lifting upwards to access the inside of the vacuum.

    • Remove the four 16 mm Phillips #2 screws that secure the lower case.

    • Use a long Phillips #2 screwdriver for easy removal of the screw in the upper right.

    • Lift the handle upwards, and the bottom piece should come up with it.

    • Remove the pump by lifting it out of its plastic holder and setting it to the side.

    • Use a long-neck Phillips #2 screwdriver to remove the four 16 mm screws.

    • Disconnect the two black wires.

    • Push down on the protruding metal and pull to remove.

    • Repeat for the other black wire.

    • Remove the motor and separate it from its plastic cover.
