Background:
Hello, my name is Cody Conn. I am currently an undergraduate student at the University of North Texas at Denton majoring in Mechanical Engineering Technology. I am also a member of the UNT SAE Mean Green Racing team. I am currently contributing hands on work with our old formula cars from past years. Later on, I hope to work on designing the newer cars for the years to come. (using SolidWorks 3D CAD) When I graduate, I plan to find a job somewhere in the automotive industry, wether it be designing or working on cars.
Experience:
My experience with repair: fixing Xbox consoles and controllers, along with working on cars (electrical and mechanical).
My Interests:
Gaming -
I have 2 main interests, the first of which I have put the most amount of work into. The Forza Horizon 5 club known as [OGTK] or OG Tandem Krew is a top tier drift club. Before I dive into the club specifics. I would like to give a brief background on the game itself. Forza Horizon is a long running game series produced by Playground Games. The first Horizon game was released in 2012. It was designed as a free roam car racing game. Skipping ahead, FH5 (as its commonly referred to) has since evolved into a full customization style free roam game. You are able to buy, upgrade, tune, and paint cars which you can then drive or sell. With that being said, OGTK is a small yet impactful club consisting of 28 current members. What do we do? We drift. Each club member creates their own unique tunes and paints for cars which we then drift...in tandem. Below are recent photos taken by me. To the untrained eye, this might not look impressive, but you should understand that each of these players (including myself) have been playing these FH games since at the latest 2019.
Music -
In high school I was a part of the percussion group. My main interest was keyboard instruments such as marimba, xylophone, and vibraphone. In my junior year, I had the opportunity to compete with a marimba solo "Astral Dance" at the TSSEC. I received the award of "Outstanding Performer". This award is given to less than 3% of people who compete state wide.
In my senior year, I spent a year working on a 10min undergraduate level marimba solo "Samsara". With this solo I performed at the 2025 TCU Percussion Festival where I placed 7th out of 34 contestants. You can also find a professionally recorded video of me performing the solo on youtube titled "Samsara by Fabian Otten - Performed by Cody Conn". Here are photos of the award from TSSEC and of me performing Samsara.
On the topic of music, I am also constantly listening to music wherever I go. Some of my favorite albums by my favorite artists include:
- Vundabar - Good Old, Antics, Surgery and Pleasure
- Tame Impala - Lonerism, The Slow Rush, InnerSpeaker
- Yot Club - off the grid, Rufus
- Twenty One Pilots - Clancy, Scaled and Icy, Blurryface
- Gorillaz - Plastic Beach, Demon Days, Gorillaz
- Courting - Lust for Life, Guitar Music
- Enjoy - The Sound Of Deceit, Small Car Big Wheels, Punk Planet.
Space -
I recently went on a family vacation to Terlingua, Texas which is one of the world's largest Dark Sky Reserves. This means there is nearly zero light pollution. On a clear night sky, you can clearly see the Milky Way with your eyes. Below are photos I took. The first was taken with just my phone camera, the others with a long exposure app called Nocturne.
