Urban Clifford "Urbie" Green (8 de agosto de 1926[1] – 31 de dezembro de 2018[2]) foi um trombonista de jazz norte-americano que saiu em turnês com Woody Herman, Gene Krupa, Jan Savitt [en] e Frankie Carle.[3] Ele participou de mais de 250 gravações e lançou mais de vinte álbuns como artista solo. Em 1995, foi incluído no Hall da Fama do Jazz do Alabama [en].

Primeiros anos

Green nasceu em Mobile, Alabama.[1] Sua mãe o ensinou piano na infância, e ele aprendeu melodias de jazz e populares desde cedo. Começou a tocar trombone, instrumento que seus dois irmãos mais velhos também tocavam, por volta dos 12 anos. Escutava trombonistas como Tommy Dorsey, J. C. Higginbotham [en], Jack Jenney [en], Jack Teagarden [en] e Trummy Young [en], mas afirmou ter sido mais influenciado pelos estilos de Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker e Lester Young. Carreira
