Laboratório Biológico Marinho

O Laboratório Biológico Marinho (LBM) é um centro internacional de pesquisa e educação em ciências biológicas e ambientais.[1] Fundado em Woods Hole, Massachusetts, em 1888, o LBM é uma instituição privada e sem fins lucrativos que foi independente durante a maior parte de sua história, mas se tornou oficialmente afiliada à Universidade de Chicago em 1.º de julho de 2013.[1][2]

Até 2024, 63 vencedores do Prêmio Nobel foram afiliados ao LBM como alunos, membros do corpo docente ou pesquisadores.[1][3] Além disso, desde 1960, houve 137 pesquisadores do Instituto Médico Howard Hughes, cientistas no início da carreira, pesquisadores internacionais e professores; 319 membros da Academia Nacional de Ciências; e 260 membros da Academia Americana de Artes e Ciências que foram afiliados ao laboratório.[1]
