Gilbert Birmingham (San Antonio, 13 de julho de 1953) é um ator de cinema e televisão norte-americano. Seus papéis notáveis na televisão incluem Thomas Rainwater em Yellowstone (2018–2024), George Hunter em Banshee (2014), Virgil White em Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (2015–2017) e Billy Black em The Twilight Saga (2008–2012).
Biografia
Birmingham nasceu em San Antonio, no Texas, filho de pai de ascendência comanche e mãe de ascendência espanhola.[1] Sua família mudou com frequência durante sua infância devido à carreira de militar de seu pai. Birmingham aprendeu a tocar violão ainda muito jovem e desenvolveu um enorme anseio pela música.[2]
Após obter o diploma de Bacharel em Ciências pela USC Price School of Public Policy, trabalhou como engenheiro petroquímico. Posteriormente, decidiu tornar-se fisiculturista e ator.[3][4][5]
Carreira
No início dos anos 1980, Birmingham foi contratado por um olheiro de talentos para sua primeira experiência como ator, um videoclipe para a música de sucesso de Diana Ross de 1982 " Muscles ".[6]
Birmingham estreou na televisão em um episódio da série Riptide. Em 2002, teve um papel recorrente como Oz no drama médico Body & Soul, estrelado por Peter Strauss. Em 2008, ele foi escalado para interpretar o personagem Billy Black na série de filmes A Saga Crepúsculo . Ele atuou em todos os cinco filmes.[7][8]
A série Crepúsculo levou a outros papéis de destaque, incluindo Johnny Cortez em Love Ranch (com Joe Pesci e Helen Mirren ) e o de Cal Bishnik em Shouting Secrets (com Chaske Spencer, colega de elenco de The Twilight Saga: New Moon). Em setembro de 2011, Birmingham apareceu no filme Crooked Arrows, no papel de Ben Logan.[9]
Ele interpretou o parceiro do personagem de Jeff Bridges no filme Hell or High Water, de 2016.
Em 2018, foi escolhido para interpretar o Chefe Thomas Rainwater da na série de televisão Yellowstone, da Paramount Network.
Ele participou de diversas outras séries de televisão, incluindo Animal Kingdom, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Veronica Mars, 10 Items or Less, Nip/Tuck, Castle, The Mentalist, House of Cards, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt e Siren. Ele também teve papéis em várias telesséries, como Gentle Ben (com Dean Cain) e Gentle Ben 2,[10] The Lone Ranger e Love's Long Journey (com Erin Cottrell e Irene Bedard).
Em fevereiro de 2021, Birmingham foi escalada como Charlie Bass na série de suspense da Netflix, Pieces of Her, adaptada do romance de mesmo nome de Karin Slaughter.[11]
