Donald Sumpter (nascido em 13 de fevereiro de 1943) [1] é um veterano ator britânico com uma carreira que se estende por mais de cinco décadas, presente no cinema e na televisão desde meados da década de 1960.
Sumpter se consolidou por seu talento versátil e respeitado, cativando o público com suas atuações memoráveis em diversos filmes e programas de televisão.
Seus créditos incluem participações em Doctor Who, The Wheel in Space (1968), The Black Panther (1977), Bleak House (1985), The Queen's Nose (1995-1998), Great Expectations (1999), Nicholas Nickleby (2001), Enigma (2001), K-19: The Widowmaker (2002), The Constant Gardener (2005), Being Human (2009-2010), Ultramarines: The Movie (2010), Black Mirror (2011), Game of Thrones (2011-2012), Endeavour (2018), Les Misérables(2018) e Chernobyl (2019).
Carreira
Sumpter nasceu em 13 de fevereiro de 1943,[1] em Brixworth, Northamptonshire, Inglaterra.[2]
Uma de suas primeiras aparições na televisão foi na série de Doctor Who de 1968, The Wheel in Space, com Patrick Troughton como O Doutor.[1] Em 1972, atuou na série The Sea Devils como Jon Pertwee.[1] Sumpter também apareceu no spin-off de Doctor Who, The Sarah Jane Adventures . Em 2015, ele apareceu como o Time Lord Presidente Rassilon no episódio " Hell Bent " de Doctor Who .[1]
Seus primeiros trabalhos no cinema incluíram um papel principal como o criminoso real Donald Neilson no filme de 1977 , The Black Panther .[3] Sumpter também apareceu em muitos filmes e seriados de televisão, incluindo adaptações dos romances de Dickens : Nicholas Nickleby em 2001,[2] Grandes Esperanças em 1999,[2] e Bleak House em 1985.[2]
Sumpter fez o papel do vilão Ronnie Day em Big Deal (1985). Ele assumiu o papel de Alexander Bonaparte Cust na adaptação de Agatha Christie's Poirot, de 1992, de The ABC Murders. Também apareceu em episódios de Midsomer Murders, The Bill, Holby City, Black Mirror, e A Touch of Frost.[2]
De 1995 a 1998, teve um papel recorrente como Tio Ginger na série da BBC infantil,The Queen's Nose.[4] Interpretou Harold Chapple em Our Friends in the North, além de retratar o físico Max Planck em Einstein e Eddington. Mais tarde, ele se apresentou como Kemp na série dramática de terror Being Human, além de ter interpretado Mestre Luwin nas temporadas 1 e 2 da série Game of Thrones, da HBO.[5]
Suas aparições em filmes incluem The Constant Gardener (2005), K-19: The Widowmaker (2002), Enigma (2001) e Ultramarines: The Movie (2010).[2]
Em 2018, interpretou Emil Valdemar na quinta temporada de Endeavour.[6] No mesmo ano, ele apareceu como Monsieur Mabeuf na adaptação da BBC de Les Misérables.[7]
