Anne Jackson (3 de setembro de 1925 – 12 de abril de 2016)[1][2][3][4] foi uma atriz norte-americana de teatro, cinema e televisão. Ela foi esposa do ator Eli Wallach, com quem frequentemente atuou em conjunto. Em 1956, foi indicada ao Tony Award Melhor Atriz Coadjuvante por sua atuação na peça Middle of the Night, de Paddy Chayefsky.[5] Em 1963, venceu o de Melhor Atriz por suas atuações em duas peças Off-Broadway, The Typists e The Tiger.[6]
Início da vida
Jackson nasceu em Millvale, Pennsylvania em 1925,[1] filha de Stella Germaine (née Murray) e John Ivan Jackson, um barbeiro.[7] Ela era a mais nova de três filhas, depois de Catherine, oito anos mais velha, e Beatrice, três anos mais velha.[8] Seu ano de nascimento foi informado incorretamente por anos como sendo 1926, o ano que a própria Jackson declarou em uma entrevista concedida em 1962.[8]
A mãe de Jackson era descendente de católicos irlandeses, e seu pai, cujo nome original era Ivan Jakšeković, havia emigrado da Croácia (então parte do Império Austro-Húngaro) em 1918.[1][8][9]
Sua família mudou-se para Brooklyn, New York quando ela tinha oito anos de idade. Ela estudou na Franklin K. Lane High School.[9]
Carreira
Em Nova York, Jackson estudou no Neighborhood Playhouse [en] e no Actors Studio. Ela fez sua estreia na Broadway em 1945. Seus créditos no teatro incluíram Summer and Smoke, Arms and the Man, Luv, The Waltz of the Toreadors, Mr. Peters' Connections e Lost in Yonkers.[3]
Os trabalhos de Jackson no cinema incluem The Tiger Makes Out, The Secret Life of an American Wife, How to Save a Marriage and Ruin Your Life, Lovers and Other Strangers, Dirty Dingus Magee, Folks! e The Shining. Vida pessoal
Jackson foi casada com o ator Eli Wallach, com quem atuou frequentemente, de 5 de março de 1948 até a morte dele, em 24 de junho de 2014. O casal teve três filhos: Peter, Katherine e Roberta.[1] Seu casamento com Wallach foi um dos mais longos e bem-sucedidos da indústria. Posteriormente, ela lecionou no HB Studio[11] em Manhattan e continuou a atuar em participações especiais.[1]
Morte
Jackson morreu em sua casa, em Manhattan, em 12 de abril de 2016, aos 90 anos de idade.[1]

I was born on September 3, 1926, in Millvale, Pennsylvania, on the outskirts of Pittsburgh. My father, John Jchekovitch, was born in Croatia, came to America in 1918, at the age of seventeen, and settled in Pittsburgh. He changed his name to John Jackson.
