Lucca Peres

Hi! My name is Lucca Peres, and I’m currently a Civil Engineering major at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth (Class of 2028). I chose this major because I’ve always been fascinated by how things are built, bridges, roads, and buildings. I also want to use my skills to create structures that make communities safer and more sustainable.

My goal is to become a structural or construction engineer, gaining field experience through internships and real world projects. I hope to work on projects that improve infrastructure and support environmental responsibility in design and construction.

I’m skilled in Autodesk AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and have strong teamwork, problem-solving, and time management abilities. I’m also trilingual (I speak English, Spanish, and Portuguese), which helps me connect and collaborate with people from different backgrounds.

I’ve worked on engineering design graphics projects and programming exercises in college. I also manage a team as assistant manager at Market Basket, where I learned leadership, communication, and how to stay organized under pressure.

While I haven’t done professional repair work yet, I’m eager to learn more about tool use and small device repairs through iFixit projects. I’m especially interested in understanding how everyday tools and materials come together to fix or improve something.

I’m proud to be part of the UMass Dartmouth Varsity Football Team, which has taught me teamwork, perseverance, grit and accountability.

Outside of school and sports, I like music, workouts, and spending time with friends and family.

iFixit connects perfectly with my passion for hands-on learning and problem-solving. Repairing and understanding how things work will make me a better engineer, someone who not only designs but also appreciates the small details that make systems function.
