Hello! My name is Auriana Myles and I am pursuing my MA in Technical Communication at the University of North Texas.
I received both my BA in English and M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration from UNT (Go Mean Green!). For 6 years I worked in various student affairs offices such as Housing & Residence Life, Conference Services, Library Services, and Visitor Experience.
I first worked in my home state of Texas, moved to Georgia, then North Carolina, and returned to Texas as a Graduate Teaching Fellow for the Technical Communication department at UNT.
[Image of me teaching my TECM 2700 course at the University of North Texas(2024).] I’m pursuing an MA so I can continue working with the TechComm department as a faculty member. I'd always had an itch for teaching and instruction, but had never had the opportunity to step into the classroom until 2024. With the TechComm depart at UNT I feel like I have finally found a career I won't retire from and I love teaching my students practical writing.
Future Goals
I am hoping to continue down the path of post-secondary instruction at the University of North Texas. While I have no interest in pursuing research, I would like to achieve a Lecturer position and continue teaching technical communication.
I've worked in many industries and would consider myself to be a "job-hopper". However, I am not ashamed to admit that I refuse to settle for a job I am not fulfilled in. So when I stumbled into teaching and finally felt like I was having fun in every aspect of my job, I knew I found the perfect career for me.
With this project I hope to strengthen my own technical writing skills so I can continue to confidently teach my students.
