Hello, my name is Grace Mendoza and I'm a freshman at the University of North Texas studying Computer Science.

During my sophomore year of high school, I enrolled in an Introduction to Computer Science class, which is where I discovered my passion for coding. After two years of exploring a range of Computer Science courses, I realized that pursuing Computer Science at a university level would be the right path for me. I moved from Wisconsin to Texas to pursue a B.S. in Computer Science.

Through this project, I hope to strengthen my communication skills on a professional level, particularly in areas such as teamwork, presenting ideas clearly, and collaborating effectively with others. I plan to use these newly learned skills to support me in achieving my career goals, whether that involves working with colleagues on projects, networking with industry professionals, or presenting my work to larger audiences.

Future Goals:

Using my Computer Science skills, I hope to become a successful coder in the app and gaming industry. Beyond my career, I aspire to travel the world, discovering new places and immersing myself in diverse cultures and ways of life. I also dream of pursuing a place in the fashion industry, specifically on the runways. Fashion has always been a deep passion of mine, and I hope to design and create works of art through fabric that could one day be showcased at Paris Fashion Week. Academically, I would love to graduate with a B.S. in Computer Science and then return to school to complete a PhD of some sort.

  • Organization
  • Problem-solving
  • Fluent in Spanish, and currently learning Mandarin Chinese
  • Team collaboration

Projects/Accomplishments:

While I may not have an extensive list of accomplishments yet, one that I am especially proud of is being recognized as Employee of the Month at the Milwaukee County Zoo. In addition, I had the opportunity to participate in a duo collaboration with Project Lead the Way, a nonprofit organization that develops STEM curriculum in schools. Through this experience, I was able to showcase my coding skills at a state conference.

Repair Experience:

Most of my repair experience comes from working alongside my dad, who enjoys fixing cars in his free time. I have helped change tires, replace brakes, and install car seats, among other tasks. However, my experience with electronics repair is more limited. So far, I have mainly done software-related work, such as recovering lost phone data and unlocking devices. Through this course, I hope to broaden my knowledge and gain more hands-on experience with electronic repair.

  • Employee of The Month, 2023

The list is a bit inadequate, however I hope to turn this around in the following years.
