Hello! I'm a second-year Geography student at the University of North Texas, with hopes of working in the GIS field after graduation. As a San Antonio native, I have experience working with central Texas environmental associations focussed on pollinator protection and local debris disposal.

About Me

My earliest aspirations for geographical knowledge began when I was a toddler. My grandmother used to take me on her grocery runs, teaching me world capitals as we browsed the aisles. I grew up with a love for travelling and have been fortunate to visit over 20 countries, and witnessing culture firsthand is something I can't recommend enough. The field of geography is multi-faceted in its very nature; I am most interested in the branch of physical geography and obtaining my Geographic Information Systems certificate to hopefully work as an analyst.

At the University of North Texas, I am a Digital Preservation Assistant with the Special Collections Library. My current project is an acquisition of born-digital material for the UNT College of Music, as well as the creation of metadata for the Portal to Texas History.

I worked for the library last semester as an intern, accessioning for two other collections (Ted Dracos and Richard D. Curtin/Edna Jean Robinson). Pictured is an entry I created for the online portal. This position has allowed me to hone skills like attention to detail and technical writing. I have become a better communicator, team member, and a Microsoft Excel expert.

Skills

  • Microsoft Suite
  • Wildlife Conservation
  • Project Management
  • Strong written and verbal communication

Repair Experience

In high school, I was a part of the marching and concert bands as a percussionist. When the regular wear-and-tear reached a breaking point, I took it upon myself to fix instruments ranging from tambourines to 5-octave marimbas. Apart from this somewhat niche skill, I have very limited experience fixing anything else. I am excited to learn more about the topic given the opportunity!

Fun Facts

I can identify every country in the world (yes, even island nations!) along with its capital.

I love to read, and I'm currently working through Sinclair Lewis's It Can't Happen Here.

I am a British citizen. This past summer, I worked in northern Wales as a park ranger. Here's a picture of the Clwydian Range!
