Hello! I'm Dan McGary, and I'm a student at Utah Tech University studying Computer Science.
I chose this major because I've always loved video games growing up as a kid, and I wanted to be a part of that world. I also wanted to know how to make video games, and learn what makes them tick. So, I'm taking the education necessary to become a video game developer, where I can take mine and others' ideas and bring them to life!
I play a lot of games, but I'm mostly a fan of Nintendo! They were a huge inspiration to me as a kid, and I love their innovative and creative style of games! The Legend of Zelda is my favorite series by far.
As a tech nerd, I've come across multiple bugs and defects with software and hardware, and have had a bit of experience in repairing them. Not job experience, but simply as a consumer troubleshooting the problem myself. I've also built some basic games for school assignments in python and a bit in Unity. Nothing major, just some projects to get me familiar with the process!
I also love to play and listen to music, and some of my favorite genres are Soundtrack music, jazz, rock, electronic, orchestral, etc. I play the saxophone, and am a part of the University Symphonic and Jazz bands! Music has played a huge role in my life, and is the best part of any movie, game, or any activity!
I also am a man of God, and served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Portland, Oregon. This experience changed my life for the better, and along with a strong faith, gave me very much needed communication and time management skills. This experience was something that I will never forget!
I'm here mostly on a college assignment, but also willing to help out where I can and gain some experience in repairing technology!
