About Me

Hello! My name is Nelly Juarez, and I am a Senior at the University of North Texas with a major in Biomedical Engineering and minoring in both biology and mathematics.

I'm passionate about bridging the gap between medicine and engineering. My goal in the future is to pursue an Md-PhD and work as a physician-scientist, where I will be able to apply engineering solutions to help with the advancement of medical research.

Projects:

I am currently an undergraduate research assistant in a university lab that is focused on applying micro- and nanoengineering to medicine. The work centers around the development and testing of several different organ-on-a-chip systems, which are miniaturized models that mimic the functions of certain organs.

Hobbies:

One of my biggest hobbies is reading, I love getting immersed in a book while losing track of time. My favorite genres are horror, dystopian, and psychological thrillers. I am currently reading Nefando by Monica Ojeda.

Other hobbies of mine include playing video games and watching movies. My current favorite movie that I watched so far in 2025 is Sinners. As for video games, I am currently playing NieR: Automata.
