Major: Design
Why this major?
I’ve always been interested in how people interact with technology and how good design makes everyday life easier. I want to learn how to create intuitive and accessible user experiences.
Aspirations:
I want to become a UX designer and work on products that improve how people interact with digital tools. My goal is to design interfaces that are both functional and visually appealing.
Skills:
I’m still learning, but I’m developing skills in:
- UX/UI design principles
- Basic prototyping and wireframing
- Some coding (just starting out, but excited to learn more!)
- Problem-solving and creative thinking
Projects/Accomplishments:
- Created a shoe-tying prototype aimed at making lacing shoes easier for accessibility (BIS 001)
- Worked on small design projects for coursework (DES 014)
Repair Experience:
I don’t have much experience yet, but I’d love to learn how to fix everyday items, especially electronics or mechanical systems.
Accolades:
Still building my experience, but I’m proud of the projects I’ve worked on and the problem-solving skills I’m developing.
Groups/Memberships:
- N/A
Hobbies:
- Playing ping-pong
- Swimming
- Hanging out with my cat
- I want to own an owl in the future
How does this project relate to you?
Understanding how things are built and repaired will help me design better, more durable products in the future. Learning about repair also gives me a hands-on approach to problem-solving, which is valuable in UX design.
