Hello! My name is Amelia and I'm a junior at the University of North Texas, majoring in computer science.
Growing up in my family, there was always some sort of project to work on. Often, we’d visit my grandfather’s property, and they’d put us to work on anything power-washing docks, painting walls, and even installing the odd roof. Growing up in that environment allowed me to really appreciate the satisfying feeling of a hard day’s work.
In high school I started playing music, and I joined and started my fair share of bands, and I spent many a night practicing my instruments and playing gigs. Playing in these bands gave me plenty of experience on how to properly lead, follow, and collaborate with team members to work towards a common goal -- which at the time was rocking out as hard as we could.
Now, in college my interest in computers has led me to study computer science, and I hope I can use the skills I learn here to contribute meaningfully to both my community and to society.
