Earlier on in my life I was a product designer. I have worked on all sorts of things, industrial, medical, automotive, office automation, lab equipment. I have cast metal, welded metal, soldered metal, machined metal. Written software in assembly through to Python. Designed pcb's using mylar and tape and recently CAD. Recently my work is far simpler but I still do design and print things using FDM 3D printers, see frostyfriday on Thingiverse. There are few things in my world I cannot fix, though often the effort outweighs the reward of doing so. I always encourage others to try and fix rather than throw out. It is so rewarding and just better. It is rare that I throw something out without at least opening it first to see whether is was a "good" or "bad" design.
