Introdução

Follow this guide to replace worn or noisy bearings on any version of a Zerotow Boogie

    • Flush & Clean: Rinse the motor and tail cone area thoroughly with fresh water to remove any sand or grit.

    • Towel dry

    • Secure the Boogie nose-down on a bench so the propeller faces upward.

    • Use a strap or the tow point to stabilize it firmly.

    • Remove the 3D printed Tail Cone

    • Use the 3mm ball-nose Allen key to remove the tail cone screws.

    • Access can be tricky — approach at an angle.

    • Once removed, inspect and clean the motor shaft.

    • Locate and remove the six 2.5mm cap screws underneath where the tail cone was mounted.

    • If screws are seized, apply WD-40 and allow to soak overnight.

    • Use high-quality Allen keys to avoid stripping the heads.

    • If you do strip one, the head can be drilled out and replaced with a M3x8mm 304 or 316 stainless socket screw.

    • Place the bearing puller over the motor shaft.

    • Locate the two M5 threaded holes on the rear motor casing.

    • Turn each side one turn each until the case starts to seperate.

    • Apply lubricant to the motor shaft if needed — this can help the bearing slide off smoothly.

    • Continue until the rear housing is fully removed.

    • Go slowly - it the shaft of end cap is corroded it could break the bearing puller. If this happens you can use the M5 screws directly in the holds to push the case off.

    • Generally, only the rear bearing needs replacement — it sits closest to the water seal and is most likely to suffer corrosion.

    • If the rear bearing only has surface rust then that bearing at the front of the motor should be ok. The mineral oil will help protect it.

    • It’s easier to leave the motor shaft in place.

    • Fit the new rear bearing and new seal.

    • Use grease when installing the seals and bearing.

    • Ensure correct orientation and fit

    • Fill the motor cavity with mineral oil.

    • This improves cooling and extends bearing life.

    • Any mineral oil can be used - baby oil, sewing machine oil or paraffin oil.

    • For preventative maintenance you periodically (50 hours) drain and add more oil to the motor.

    • Slide the bearing and seal assembly back onto the shaft.

    • Reinstall the rear housing, cap screws and tail cone.
