If you need to replace the speaker drivers of the device, use this guide safely to replace one or both speakers if you are experiencing audio troubles like no sound, sound distortion or even buzzing at a normal volume. Be mindful that the Sony SRS-XB21 has a IP67 rating for water and dust resistance which is sealed by adhesives and gaskets, meaning opening this speaker could potentially affect its water proof integrity. Before you proceed with the repairs make sure the speaker is powered off and to carefully manage strong adhesives and cables connected within the speaker

Gently run an opening tool along the seam where the grille meets the body.

Lift the grille off slowly.

Remove the four screws from the corners of each speaker using a Phillips #1 screwdriver.

Remove the three screws from each endcap using a Phillips #1 screwdriver.

Pull up the speaker housing carefully, as there are wires still connected.

Disconnect all of the cables connected to the speaker.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
