While a very late reply, someone else may find this useful.
In short, no. Not at all. The DS Lite Battery I own (Original) Is listed as
USG-003
3.7v
1000 mAH
3.7 Wh
Where as the DSi battery I own (Again, an original straight from my console) is listed as:
TWL-003
3.7v
840 mAH
3.1 Wh
While the same voltage and a slight difference in capacity, the DSi Battery is slightly longer and slimmer in width to the DS/DS Lite Battery and you will need to find a battery suited for the DS/DS Lite you're using. Many places will sell these batteries but do your research as not all of these are created equal.
A Phillips #000 (PH000) seems to give a more secure fit (no slipping) than the stated Phillips #00.

This will be good for mods

I'm having a problem getting the screw to unscrew. I have the right Phillips ( it was included with all the stuff I got this) Any tips. it doesn't look like the screw is spinning but i haven't played my Nintendo DS Lite for 3 years.

Soit un changement de batterie, soit la carte-mère a peut-être un court-circuit :/
