Introdução
If your ThinkPad T540p laptop isn't maintaining BIOS settings or the system clock is incorrect after the power connector is unplugged, use this guide to replace the laptop's CMOS battery.
As devices age, their batteries degrade as a result of general use and time. Over the lifespan of a battery it will hold less and less capacity and eventually will hold no charge.
Before beginning, make sure to power off the laptop completely and disconnect it from the charger.

Flip the laptop over so the bottom is showing.

Orient the laptop so that the the battery bump is facing away from you.

Using a Phillips #1 screwdriver, unscrew the one M2 x 5mm screw holding the CMOS battery door in place.

Using an opening pick or your fingernail, work your way around the edges of the panel popping the clips off that hold the panel in place.

To reassemble your device, follow the above steps in reverse order.
Take your e-waste to an R2 or e-Stewards certified recycler.
