Use this guide to revive a steam clothes iron that no longer stops heating or has a blocked safety valve. Replacing the pressure switch restores automatic pressure control while a new safety valve protects the boiler from dangerous over-pressure. Perform the repair when the iron continually boils, overheats or whenever the valve shows heavy limescale buildup.

    • Unplug the iron from the electrical outlet before starting any work.

    • Remove all screws from the housing to reach the internal components.

    • Locate the pressure switch mounted on the boiler through the service opening.

    • This semi-industrial model keeps key components exposed for easy service.

    • Take a reference photo of the switch wiring to preserve the connection order.

    • Disconnect the wires from the faulty pressure switch.

    • Use a wrench to unscrew the switch from the boiler fitting.

    • Be aware the fitting is under pressure and must be firmly secured during removal.

    • Place a towel beneath the boiler to catch any water that escapes.

    • Some water always remains inside because the tank has an internal baffle.

    • Wrap Teflon tape around the new switch threads in the tightening direction.

    • Unscrew and remove the worn safety valve cap.

    • Thread in the new safety valve and tighten firmly.

    • Replace this valve every two years to avoid dangerous over-pressure.
