Introdução

Replace the worn door seals when you notice dripping water, escaping steam or hardened rubber around the dishwasher door. Fresh seals stop leaks, keep steam and moisture inside, and protect nearby cabinets and flooring. This guide shows you how to remove the old perimeter and bottom seals, clean the door, lubricate the new seals with glycerin, and install them for a tight, lasting fit.

    • Pull the dishwasher power plug from the wall socket before beginning any work.

    • Lift off the outer door front to expose the inner edge of the bottom seal.

    • Having the panel off makes reaching the lower seal channel easier.

    • Grip the small lug-shaped spacer at one end of the bottom seal and pull it out of the channel.

    • Removing this piece unlocks the bottom seal so it can slide out freely.

    • Pull the thick bottom door seal straight out of its groove along the entire width of the door.

    • Work gently; the seal should lift away without tools.

    • Starting at a corner, pull the perimeter door seal out of the groove around the cabinet opening.

    • Continue until the seal is free from both sides and the top.

    • Scrub the entire seal groove and surrounding metal to remove food residue and detergent buildup.

    • Pay attention to hidden recesses that harbor bacteria and odors.

    • Watch for sharp metal edges inside the door while cleaning.

    • Wipe every area dry so the new seals seat correctly.

    • Coat the replacement seals lightly with glycerin to restore flexibility and ease installation.

    • Glycerin in cream form from pharmacies works well and helps the seals slide into place.

    • Press the lubricated perimeter seal evenly into the groove, starting at the top center and working down both sides.

    • Confirm the seal sits flush all around without twists or gaps.

    • Insert the new bottom seal into its channel and press it fully along the entire width.

    • Reinstall the lug-shaped spacer to lock the seal ends securely.

    • Wear cut-resistant gloves if needed to avoid injury from sharp edges.

    • Refit the outer door panel and restore power to the dishwasher.

    • Run a short wash cycle and check that no water or steam escapes around the door.

Conclusão

With fresh, lubricated seals in place, your dishwasher door should close softly and stay watertight. Inspect the gaskets periodically and clean the grooves to keep them flexible and extend their service life.
