Introdução

Replacing a worn door gasket keeps steam, odours and heat inside the oven, saving energy and protecting nearby cabinets. A working oven light lets you monitor food without opening the door and losing heat. Both jobs are quick beginner-level tasks you can handle yourself with minimal tools.

    • Unplug the stove from the electrical outlet before beginning any repair.

    • Lift the small metal hooks along the door frame to release the gasket.

    • Work around the perimeter until the entire seal is free.

    • Remove the gasket the same way during routine cleaning.

    • On pyrolytic ovens the gasket must be pried in and out piece by piece.

    • Clean the groove and the gasket with a cloth to remove grease and crumbs.

    • Hold the gasket so it sits square with the stitched joint positioned at the bottom.

    • Hook the first corner of the gasket onto the upper catch in the frame.

    • Stretch the gasket lightly and snap each metal hook into its slot around the door.

    • Maintain slight tension so the seal lies even and untwisted.

    • Confirm every hook is engaged; a missing hook lets steam escape and stains cabinets.

    • Locate the oven light inside the cavity and grasp the glass cover.

    • Twist the cover counter-clockwise to loosen it; some models pull straight out.

    • If it is stuck, wrap a cloth around the cover and turn it gently with water-pump pliers.

    • Avoid clamping bare pliers on the glass to prevent cracking.

    • Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket.

    • Insert a high-temperature oven bulb rated for about 350 °C into the socket.

    • Standard household bulbs will burn out after the first bake and must not be used.

    • Tighten the bulb by hand until snug.

    • Thread the glass cover back onto the lamp housing until it seats firmly.

    • Reconnect the stove and check that the light works and the door seals properly.

Conclusão

With the new gasket in place and the high-temperature bulb shining, your oven is sealed, lit and ready for many more reliable bakes.
