Introdução

Use diagnostic mode to test the control panel, switches, fill valves, agitation, and drain/spin functions on Speed Queen top-load washers that use the TC5003-style interface (TC5, TL3, TR3, and TR5). This mode can also help you react to flashing-light error conditions when the washer won’t start or stops mid-cycle.

    • Unplug the washer, and wait 30 seconds.

    • Plug the washer back in, and wait about 10 seconds for it to boot.

    • WARNING: Keep hands, hair, and loose clothing away from moving parts during agitation and spin tests.

    • Rotate the cycle selector to 180° opposite of the normal Eco position.

    • Press and hold the Start/Pause button.

    • While holding Start/Pause, rotate the cycle selector 180° back to normal Eco within about five seconds.

    • Keep holding Start/Pause for about two seconds until the panel lights flash on, off, and then on again.

    • Release Start/Pause when you hear constant beeping and all the lights stay on.

    • Caution: The washer may start filling while you rotate the knob, so watch the tub, and be ready to stop the test if needed.

    • When diagnostics are active, filling should stop.

    • Verify all LED lights are on to confirm the display lights work.

    • If any LED isn’t lit during this test, that LED isn’t working.

    • Press Start/Pause to advance to the next test.

    • Turn the cycle selector through every cycle position at least once.

    • Confirm the status lights change as you select different cycles.

    • Note: Cycle names and exact light combinations can vary by model, even with the same style interface.

    • Press Start/Pause to advance to the next test.

    • Rotate the temperature knob through the available wash temperature settings.

    • Confirm the status lights change when you select different temperatures.

    • Press Start/Pause to advance to the next test.

    • Rotate the option or load-size dial left and right through all positions.

    • Confirm the status lights change for each option.

    • Note: This dial may be labeled differently depending on the model.

    • Press Start/Pause to advance to the next test.

    • Press the Extra Rinse or Extra Fill button to toggle the indicator light on and off.

    • Confirm the indicator light changes state each time you press the button.

    • Note: The dial position doesn’t affect this button test.

    • Press Start/Pause to advance to the next test.

    • Open and close the lid once to confirm the lid switch changes the status lights.

    • Wait a moment for the lights to update as the lid switch cycles.

    • Close the lid, and press Start/Pause to advance.

    • Keep the lid closed to run the hot fill valve test.

    • Open the lid to stop filling.

    • Press Start/Pause to advance to the next test.

    • Caution: Don’t leave the washer filling unattended during any fill-valve test.

    • Watch for a model-dependent test that may be skipped on some washers.

    • Allow the washer to fill with hot and cold water until it reaches the target level for the pressure sensor check.

    • Wait for the washer to shut the valves off after it reaches the proper fill state.

    • Press Start/Pause to advance after the fill target is reached.

    • Run the lid lock test on models with a lid lock by confirming the lid locks and then unlocks.

    • Press Start/Pause to advance after the lock and unlock sequence completes.

    • Run the long-stroke agitation test on models that include it by closing the lid and listening for agitation.

    • Open the lid to stop agitation, and close it to allow the test to run again.

    • Run the delicate short-stroke agitation test when present, which operates like the long-stroke test but sounds different.

    • Press Start/Pause to advance past the agitation tests.

    • Allow the washer to drain and spin during the drain and spin test.

    • Press Start/Pause to stop the test and advance when you’re ready.

    • Note: Drain and spin behavior can vary by model based on how the drain pump is set up.

    • WARNING: Stay clear of the tub during spin, and don’t reach into the washer.

    • Advance to the unbalance-related test on models that include it, which may require the lid to be locked.

    • Trigger the unbalanced load switch if the washer requires it to advance.

    • Find the unbalanced load switch inside the front panel on the right side between the tub and the trunnion system.

    • Press Start/Pause to advance to the breakaway test.

    • Observe the breakaway test, which slows the unit down, stops it, and unlocks the lid on models with a lid lock.

    • Press Start/Pause to advance after the washer stops.

    • Wait for the washer to fully drain and stop, then watch for all lights to turn off as the unit powers down.

    • Confirm the controls are unresponsive in the powered-down state even though the panel may beep.

    • Unplug the washer for 30 seconds, then plug it back in to reboot to the ready state.

    • Look for flashing indicator lights when the washer refuses to start or stops during operation.

    • Treat the flashing pattern as an error indication, and correct the underlying failure the code points to.

    • Expect error indications to vary between the TC5, TL-series, and TR-series washers, even with similar interfaces.

    • On some TC5 interfaces, the Soak light may be used where other models use a Lid Lock light for a similar issue category.

    • Motor and user-interface related failures may present similarly across models.

    • Drive-related errors apply to models with a separate drive board, which is typical of TL and TR series washers.

Conclusão

If a control or component fails a diagnostic test, repair the underlying cause, clear the condition by power-cycling the washer, and rerun diagnostics to confirm the fix. Flashing-light error indications and their exact meanings can vary by model and revision, so match the light pattern to the correct documentation for the specific washer before replacing parts.
