Introdução

This guide shows the process of altering a pair of khaki shorts to lower the waist for a more fitted look. This guide specifically uses the Brother SE2000 sewing machine but any sewing machine may do, you may even follow along with handstitching as long as you also copy the stitching patterns required.

    • Turn the shorts inside out and fold them at the crotch seam. Clip that fold together with sewing clips.

    • This is where you're going to mark off how much you're going to cut off.

    • Flip to the backside of the shorts and mark them with tailors chalk. Then line up the seam with the chalk mark. Make sure all the seams line up so that everything is even at the end.

    • Mark out where you will sew new seam. If you are using a machine, select straight stitch, if you're hand sewing use the straight stitch sewing technique. Then just sew along the chalk line.

    • Cut off the access fabric leaving a quarter of an inch of fabric for an overlock stitch.

    • If you are using a machine select overlock stitch. If you are hand sewing use the overlock stitching technique. Sew along the line again to strengthen the seam.
