Introdução

Do you have any jeans that fit you comfortably around your waist, but you don't like how tight they feel around your legs and hips? Here's a guide on how to make your jeans baggier.

This guide is beginner-friendly, but it takes a lot longer without a sewing machine and a seam ripper. Depending on your experience and the tools you have available, it could take several hours.

    • Flip your jeans inside out.

    • Use pins or chalk to mark where you want to cut the inseams of the jeans you want to modify.

    • You can cut either along the inside or the outside seams of your jeans.

    • Start cutting alongside the inseam you chose.

    • Typically, using a seam ripper is a lot faster, but you can still get the job done with a pair of scissors.

    • This particular step is tedious, especially without the proper tools. Do not try using something like a knife or box cutter. You may harm yourself.

    • Use a measuring tape to measure from the bottom of the pant leg to where you want to cut.

    • To measure how wide you want the jeans, grab a pair that you already have that fit you how you like them. Align them with the jeans you are modifying.

    • Measure the bottom width, double it, and then add two or three inches more.

    • Make sure to cut a little wider so you have room for error.

    • Use fabric chalk to mark a triangle the length and size of the area you are adding to your jeans

    • Use sewing scissors to cut along the triangle of your donor jeans or denim fabric.

    • Pin the corners of the denim piece onto the other pant leg to make sure that both sides are the same size.

    • Pin the pieces you just cut onto the inseams with pins.

    • Sew the edges together.

    • This step will take a long time to do by hand, but it is possible. I still recommend using a sewing machine if you can, so the process goes a lot quicker. The stitches will also be more secure.

    • Be careful when sewing. While doing it by hand, you might poke yourself. When using a machine, keep your fingers away from the needle.

    • Try on one pant leg. If you don't like it, it's not too late to undo the stitches and either make it wider or slimmer. Otherwise, you're done!
