Introdução

This guide should be used to replace a male garden hose connector if it is broken or leaking. A male hose connector is a fitting with external threads that screws onto the female end of a hose connector. It was designed to create a leak-free connection and is often made of brass or plastic.

The male hose connector attaches a 5/8-inch hose to the water source, allowing water to flow through the hose. If this connector is leaking, replace it to prevent water waste.

Before replacing this part, check the connection of the hose and the water source to make sure it is on correctly and that there is no debris interfering. Next, make sure that there are no cuts or cracks in the hose that are causing the leak near the connector.

In step 2 of this guide, you will need to use a sharp utility knife or other kind of blade to cut the end of the hose. Do this step carefully on a solid and secure surface to prevent injury.

    • Hold the hose down against the surface and use the utility knife to cut the hose about two to three inches away from the old connector.

    • Be careful cutting through the hose as the utility knife is very sharp and the hose is thick.

    • Insert the new male hose connector into the open end of the hose, pressing it in by hand as far as possible.

    • Use the pliers to assist with pushing the connector completely into the hose.

    • Make sure the connector is fit completely to the edge of the hose.

    • Place the clamp close to the connector but not too close, and begin to tighten it by turning the screw on the clamp.

    • Use the pliers once it starts to get harder or a flathead screwdriver if you have one.

    • To make sure there are no other leaks between the connector and the spout, wrap Teflon tape around the thread of your water source 2-3 times.

    • Twist the new hose connector to the water source.

    • Do this by hand or with the pliers until it is secure.

    • Finally, turn the water on and make sure there are no leaks from the new connector.
