The VTEC solenoid controls oil pressure to the camshaft's high-lift lobes, allowing Honda's VTEC system to operate correctly. When the upper VTEC solenoid gasket fails, it can cause oil leaks, error codes, and poor engine performance.

Open the hood and locate the VTEC on the front left side of the engine, near the valve cover.

Clean the surrounding area to keep dirt out of the engine during removal.

Lift the electrical connector upward to remove it from the cable holder.

Disconnect the two wiring plugs and move the cables aside

Prepare the replacement solenoid.

Insert the gasket (new or used if still in good condition) into its slot.

Lightly coat it with fresh oil to ensure a proper seal.

Tighten all 3 bolts with a ratchet carefully.

Reconnect the electrical plug and clip the cable back onto the holder.
