Introdução

As any device with a battery, the Bose SoundLink Color II will need a battery replacement once the battery no longer has the expected capacity.

However, because this speaker is waterproof, this task is not straightforward.

The following steps will guide you through the process of replacing the battery.
Keep in mind that waterproofness cannot be guaranteed once your device has been disassemble, but it is better than replacing the whole speaker no ?

There is a waterproof/resistant double-faced tape about 3/16ths wide lining the perimeter of the top of the speaker and in a circle around the microphone. By removing the cover, the seal will be damaged when you peel it away from the tape. After this the tape is no longer tacky. You will need either thin heavy duty double-face tape or glue that will adhere to the silicone cover or in my case, I am attempting to use waterproof silicone caulk to follow the same line to keep it waterproof.

What screwdriver do you need to remove these screws?

    bcadogan -

Hello, I think it was Tamper Resistant TORX screwdriver.

    I used a T10 torx bit.

Caution: the Amazon link provided links to a set of proper security torx bits, BUT, they are short on 1/4” sockets, which will be too wide to enter the depth of the narrow holes that the screws are set in. The screw are set in about 3/4”-1” in depth.

    What type of battery?

Please be advised that the Bose support website has a firmware update that fixes some battery issues. I took my dead - non-charging Soundlink Color II apart and then found the website and fixed the issue with the firmware update! The update website is located @ http://btu.bose.com

Beware that, after the battery gets undervolted (like 2.4V), the device does not seem to accept an externally charged battery and continues to act dead, until it finds some form of comfort over its USB input. Not from a dumb 5V power supply, but from an USB charger or PC supporting some level of power delivery extension, and an appropriately wired lead.

Guide was good, the battery pcb i found in my unit was a bit different and had metal strips soldered to the board and welded to the battery.
