Introdução
Use this guide to diagnose weak suspension rods and install the W10189077 / W10820048 rod kit so your washer spins smoothly instead of bouncing or walking across the floor. The process is identical on Whirlpool, Roper, Maytag Bravos / Cabrio, and other Whirlpool-designed top-load machines.

-
Lift the lid and press straight down on the agitator or wash plate, then release it to watch the tub response.
-
Rock the tub left and right and feel for side-to-side play.
-
-
-
Lay out four new suspension rods from the W10189077 / W10820048 kit.
-
Have a screwdriver with a quarter-inch nut-driver tip ready for the rear screws.
-
Put on one rubber-grip glove to hold and pull each rod without slipping.
-
Keep masking tape nearby to secure the lid during service.
-
If your model uses hidden front clips, keep a putty knife handy to release them.
-
-
-
Remove the two screws at the rear corners of the top panel plus the screw on the power-cord cover.
-
Stand at the front, pull the panel toward you about two inches, lift up, then pivot it toward the rear hinges.
-
-
-
Lean the raised top panel against a wall or another support, preventing the taped lid from striking the control console.
-
-
-
Reach inside, grip the first rod with your gloved hand, and pull upward to free its hook from the plastic cup.
-
Rotate the plastic cup about 90 degrees to slide it out of the mounting slot.
-
Lower the freed rod carefully back into the tub opening.
-
-
-
Tilt the washer slightly onto its side to expose the underside without laying it completely flat if space permits.
-
From below, guide the rod’s shepherd’s hook out through the two chassis holes, wiggling it if it sticks.
-
Feed the replacement rod up through the same holes until the bottom spring rests on the chassis lip.
-
-
-
Pop out the old plastic cup with a flat plastic screwdriver and snap in the new cup supplied in the kit.
-
Lift the tub and pull the rod upward with your gloved hand, then seat the hook fully into the new cup.
-
-
-
Repeat the unhook-tilt-replace-reseat process for each of the other three suspension rods.
-
Limited floor space may force you to replace one rod at a time; larger work areas let you swap two rods while the washer is on its side.
-
Most users finish all four rods in about fifteen minutes once the rhythm is learned.
-
-
-
Confirm that all four new plastic bushings are identical and that the tub sits level inside the cabinet.
-
-
-
Lower the top panel into its brackets, slide it forward, and reinstall the rear screws or snap the front clips.
-
Remove the tape, press on the agitator again, and confirm the tub centers without bouncing.
-
Run a full test load and listen for a quiet, steady spin cycle.
-
With all four new suspension rods installed and the tub level, your washer should spin smoothly without shaking or walking across the floor. Enjoy the quiet, stable cycles your machine delivered when it was new.
