This guide explains how to repair a Navien NPE-240A tankless water heater when the display shows error code E110. This code indicates an issue with the air intake vent, which may be caused by a blockage or a damaged air intake collar.

Note: Before you begin, check the display screen for Error Code E110 to ensure this is the right guide for your tankless water heater.
Caution: Turn off the unit’s power and shut off the gas supply. Failing to do so can cause injury or damage.

Use an impact driver with a 5/16" nut driver to loosen the #6 machine nut screw from the clamp.

Loosen the clamp and disconnect the pipe and vent collars from the water heater to access the air intake filter.

Inspect the air intake filter and vent pipes for dirt or obstructions.

Clear any debris by hand if necessary.

Use an impact driver with a Phillips head screwdriver bit to remove the four 1/2" machine screws that connect the damaged air intake vent collar to the water heater.

Remove the damaged air intake vent collar.

Install the new air intake vent collar.

Secure the new vent collar with the four 1/2" Phillips machine screws using the impact driver with a screwdriver bit.

Use the impact driver with a 5/16" nut driver to reconnect the pipe and vent collars to the water heater.

Turn on the power to the unit and open the gas supply.

Power on the heater to confirm that the E110 error code no longer appears.
