Background

The Trek 820 mountain bike is known to handle the streets better than some of the higher-end Trek bicycles (i.e. Trek 3700). The Trek 820 is different than the rest because it is Trek's generic bike, so almost any tire or seat will work due to the interface of the Trek 820 being up to the industry standard.

Identification

The Trek 820 was available in multiple color combinations throughout the years, including base colors in various shades and sheens, black, red, ecru, green, silver, blues, and champagne. You can identify your bike by the Trek logo printed on the down tube, and model 820 printed on the top tube.
