Background
The Sony Xperia TL was launched on August 29, 2012, as a replacement for the Xperia S. It featured general improvements such as a larger screen with 720x1280 pixel resolution, the more advanced Snapdragon S4 SoC chipset, and the new Android 4.0.4 "Ice Cream Sandwich" operating system. In 2013, it had an update to the Android 4.1.2 "Jellybean" operating system. It included a 1.5 GHz dual-core CPU, 1 GB of RAM, and 16 GB of internal storage that could be expanded using a microSD card.
Designed to operate specifically on AT&T's 4G LTE cell network, it heralded Sony's entry into the 4G smartphone arena.
Identification
It can be differentiated from its predecessor by its design. In the Xperia S, the back sticks out along the vertical axis of the phone, while on the Xperia TL, the back is concave along the horizontal axis of the phone. Also, the Xperia TL is less refined in appearance and has rougher edges than the higher-end Xperia TX, launched on the same day.
The Xperia TL was available in black, white, and silver. It has a 4.6-inch LCD screen. You can identify your Sony Xperia TL by the Sony logo printed at the top and the AT&T logo printed on the bottom of the screen. The model name, "Xperia," is printed on the bottom of the back of the phone, just below a green and silver circle.
The model name and number of your phone can be found using the Support app under Device Info and then Model. If your phone doesn't power on, you can find the IMEI number inside the SIM card slot on a label tray.
