Background
The 2026 MacBook Air 13" (M5) is almost identical to the previous generation MacBook Air 13" (M4). Starting at $1099 USD, it's available in Starlight, Silver, Sky Blue, or Midnight. While still impressively thin and light, it's characterized by a more squared-off design, lacking the tapered wedge shape of the pre-2022 models.
Repairs for this model can be challenging; pentalobe screws guard the exterior, the battery is secured with both stretch-release adhesives and screws and requires removing the logic board for access, and both memory and storage are non-serviceable and non-upgradeable. On the plus side, the MagSafe, Thunderbolt, and headphone/3.5 mm audio ports are all highly modular.
Identification
This model looks nearly identical to the 2022, 2023, and 2024 13" MacBook Air. The laptop has a MagSafe port and two Thunderbolt ports on the left edge, and a headphone jack on the right edge. There's a "notch" on the top edge of the display for the camera, and a Touch-ID/power button on the top right corner of the keyboard.
